Welcome to Winfield In Action spring 2026 Baseball and Softball. Registration for T-ball, baseball, and softball is now open. All registration will be done online through this website. Teams will start forming on Saturday, 2/14/26. As roster space fills up, registrants will be waitlisted until another team can be formed. Friend requests and coach requests will be considered but cannot be guaranteed.
Age groups:
The appropriate league is determined by the current grade of your player.
· T-ball: 4-5 year olds
· Juniors: K-1st grade
· Pre-Minors: 2nd grade
· A-League baseball: 3rd-4th grade
· AA-League baseball: 5th-6th grade
· AAA-League baseball: 7th-8th grade
· A-League softball: 1st-2nd grade
· AA-League softball: 3rd-4th grade
· AAA-League softball: 5th-6th grade
· Major League softball: 7th-8th grade
Coed leagues:
The T-ball league is for four- and five-year olds looking for their first baseball experience. Players will work on throwing, catching, and batting. A great introduction for kids playing on their first organized team. This is an in-house league.
Juniors baseball is a coed coach pitch league, with players typically in Kindergarten or 1st grade. Emphasis is on improving the fundamental skills needed at all levels of baseball and softball. This is an in-house league.
Baseball leagues:
Pre-Minor baseball is for 2nd graders, although skilled 1st graders can “play up” if they’re ready. The season will start as coach pitch, but will transition into player pitch during the season. Games are played against teams in surrounding communities.
A-League baseball is for 3rd and 4th graders, AA-League baseball is for 5th and 6th graders, and AAA-League baseball is for 7th and 8th graders. From 3rd grade and older, all pitching is done by the players. WIA participates in the Wheaton recreational baseball league at these age levels.
Girls are welcome to register in any of the baseball leagues.
Softball leagues:
A-League softball is for 1st and 2nd grade girls. This league starts off as coach pitch and transitions to player pitch during the season.
AA-League softball is for 3rd and 4th grade girls. AAA-League softball is for 5th and 6th grade girls. Major League softball is for 7th and 8th grade girls. From 3rd grade and older, all pitching is done by the players.
All of our girls softball teams participate in Wheaton recreational leagues.
Season dates:
Practices will begin the first part of April, with games beginning mid- to end of April, depending on the league. The season will conclude in mid- to late June. Exact dates will be posted as they become available.
Fields:
Practices will be at local fields in the Winfield area. We use fields at Lions Park, Founders Park (at the Winfield Park District), Wynwood Fields, and Glasshagel Fields. Games will be at these fields, as well as locations in surrounding communities for those leagues participating in community leagues.
Coaches:
All coaches are volunteers, as is the case with other rec leagues in surrounding communities. Our leagues would not be possible without the support and generosity of our volunteer coaches. Please consider taking on the role of head coach or assistant coach. Resources are available for planning practices, and parents are often willing to help out during practices and games.

Have you ever noticed the business names on the back of some team jerseys? Those are local businesses who have graciously sponsored one of our teams. Besides the business name on the jersey, each sponsor also receives a picture plaque with the team photo and the sponsor’s name, perfect for display in an office or behind the bar!
